Gaia Cevini

Gaia Cevini is an Italian Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. She is also qualified as European Patent Litigator before the future Unified Patent Court (UPC).

She obtained a PhD in Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Pavia, where her research work focused on numerical methods in electromagnetics and neural networks. Then, she spent four years working as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Electronics of the University of Pavia. During her academic activity, she co-authored various articles published in Italian and International journals and she was involved in a number of European research projects relating to sub-surface radars for various types of industrial applications (e.g. transport applications).

From 2007 to 2009, she worked as a researcher for PGT Photonics S.p.A. (former Pirelli Labs Optical Innovation) in Milan, Italy, in the field of optical devices for telecommunication systems. During her activity as researcher at PGT, she was also designated inventor for a patent application.

She joined Marchi & Partners in 2009, where she is involved in drafting patent applications and handling prosecution before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), the European Patent Office (EPO) and the other main foreign patent offices. She also has acquired a significant experience in patent litigation and in drafting opinions on patentability, validity and infringement. Her areas of expertise are, in particular, telecommunications, electronics and mechanics.

In 2013, she spent one month in training activities at Oblon, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, L.L.P., Washington DC, USA.

Since 2014 she is an active member of Examination Committee (EC) I for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE).
