Chiara Formenton

Chiara Formenton is an Italian Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and EUIPO Professional Representative.

Chiara obtained a Master’s degree in Biology Applied to Biomedical Research from the University of Milan, with an experimental thesis on the effect of oxidative stress on the activity of γ-GT in the rat jejunum.

She subsequently undertook a year of research, thanks to a ‘Promising Young Researchers’ scholarship, at the Neuropharmacology Laboratory within the Department of Pharmacological Sciences at the University of Milan, during which she studied the presynaptic molecular mechanisms involved in stress-induced glutamate release and the action of antidepressant drugs.

From 2010 to 2026, Chiara worked at a leading Milan-based industrial property firm, specialising in patents and designs. She handled all aspects of managing clients’ patent portfolios, from defining protection strategies to drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, right through to litigation. Chiara’s practice also included the preparation of due diligence reports, searches, and opinions on freedom to operate, patentability and validity.

In 2026, she joined Marchi & Partners, where she is responsible for drafting patent applications and managing their prosecution before the Italian Patent and Trade Mark Office (UIBM), the European Patent Office (EPO) and other major foreign patent offices. She successfully supports clients in the preparation of due diligence reports, searches, and opinions on freedom to operate, patentability and validity, primarily in the life sciences sector.
