Ilaria Tirotta

Ilaria Tirotta is an Italian Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. Before joining Marchi & Partners she gained significant experience in scientific research in the academic field.

After obtaining a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Sapienza University of Rome, where her research focused on asymmetric organic synthesis, she acquired significant technical experience working as a Post Doctoral Researcher for five years.

During that period she conducted research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany, in the field of organometallic chemistry, and then at the Politecnico of Milan, Italy, in the field of organic chemistry, nanotechnology, and their application towards the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Throughout her research activity she has participated in several pre-clinical biomedical projects, collaborating with many Italian and European hospitals and universities, and publishing numerous articles in high impact international journals.

She joined Marchi & Partners in 2016, where she deals with all aspects of the management of Clients’ patent portfolio, from definition of the protection strategy to drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications up to litigation. Ilaria’s practice also includes preparing due diligence and freedom to operate, patentability and validity searches and opinions.

She deals with patents both in Italy and abroad, particularly in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, life-sciences and medical devices.
